Homebuyer Credit Closing Deadline Extended

While congress can’t seem to get it’s act together and make up it’s mind on the many tax issues they are currently facing (as Rosemary points out in her blog here), they were at least able to get something done in the last month.  Taxpayers who were first time homebuyers and who contracted to buy their house before the April 30 deadline to receive the first time homebuyers credit now have until September 30, 2010 to close the deal.  The original due date to close on these purchases was June 30 but the IRS was concerned that many homebuyers might not be able to meet that deadline.  If you or anyone you know might be able to take advantage of this credit, you can read more details here
